The Power of Big Asks: Manifestation, Networking, and Letting Go of Self-Limiting Beliefs
Does this sound familiar? You want more freedom in your career or business, but something keeps holding you back. Maybe it’s uncertainty. Maybe it’s fear of making the wrong move. Or maybe it’s the quiet voice in your head that says you’re not ready yet. Many people stay stuck because they believe they must follow one path, choose one opportunity, or wait for the “perfect moment.” But the truth is, growth often begins when you stop limiting yourself and start asking bigger questions. This conversation explores how mindset, connection, and intentional action can help people create opportunities instead of waiting for them to appear.
My special guest is Chad Coe

Chad Coe is a wealth advisor, author, and long-time connector who has spent more than 25 years helping professionals and entrepreneurs grow financially and personally. Through his advisory work and mastermind groups, Chad has helped countless leaders overcome mental roadblocks, build stronger networks, and pursue opportunities with greater clarity. Known for his relationship-driven approach, he focuses on connecting people who can help each other grow rather than chasing transactions or quick wins. Today, Chad spends much of his time mentoring others, making introductions, and encouraging people to think bigger about what they want from life and business.
“It’s not about what you can get from people. It’s about helping them get where they want to go.”
In this episode, you will be able to:
- Discover how asking bigger questions can change your mindset and push you toward new opportunities.
- Learn why many professionals unknowingly limit themselves by believing they can only pursue one path.
Gain insight into how genuine connections often create opportunities faster than traditional networking. - Understand why focusing on helping others first builds stronger and more meaningful relationships.
- Explore the surprising power of saying “no” to negativity so you can protect your time and energy.
Turning Big Questions Into Real Opportunities
The conversation starts with a simple but powerful idea: ask for what you want as if the answer is guaranteed to be yes. It forces you to think bigger and see possibilities instead of limits. Chad shares how this mindset led to a real opportunity for his son, a chance encounter that turned into a job offer, showing that focus and action often attract unexpected results.
Chad also challenges the idea that you must stick to one path. Most people already juggle multiple roles, so flexibility opens doors to new ventures and income streams. Meaningful connections are key: by reaching out with curiosity and service rather than selling, you create relationships that naturally lead to opportunities.
At this point in his career, Chad focuses on helping others achieve their goals, acting as a connector and fostering collaboration. He also emphasizes the power of removing negative influences to protect your time, energy, and focus.
The takeaway is clear: success comes from asking big questions, building genuine connections, and staying focused. Shift your mindset from limits to possibilities, and the opportunities you’ve been waiting for can appear.

Free Agent Podcast with Meg Schmitz – Guest: Chad Coe, Wealth Manager & Franchise Consultant at Chad Co Financial
Meg Schmitz: Hey. Hello everybody and welcome to or welcome back to the Free Agent Podcast. My name is Meg Schmitz, and if you’ve been here before, you know that this discussion is all about free agency and taking control over your financial future.
The mission of my show is to share inspiring conversations with real people who took the leap into self employment, business ownership, sometimes franchising but are all looking for financial freedom.
Today my guest is Chad Coe. I’ve had Chad on my podcast previously. Chad and I go way back to about 2009, so a long time now that we can say that we’ve been friends and networking colleagues and there’s always something interesting to talk about when you get a wealth manager and a franchise consultant together. So what do you want to talk about?
Chad:
You know, let’s just talk about mindset.
And the conversation I had today with one of my coach friends is the fifth power.
Meg:
Okay.
Chad:
And the fifth power is about the way I understand it is about answering the question, if you could have anything you want, as long as you figure this out, big or small, and the answer was guaranteed to be yes, what would you ask for?
And then the answer is yes. Go ahead. I think you know what it is. Go ahead. This is all about manifestation.
And. And it reminded me of a situation I’ll bring up when you’re done with your example. And so if it’s manifestation or if it’s the question, looking out into the future, three years, what has to happen so you’re successful. And I don’t care if it’s the fifth power, manifestation, or looking out three years, what can we do to get you there? I find that if you stay focused on what you want and where you’re going, it happens.
Yeah. And so you give me your example after I give you this one. My son took the real estate exam two weeks ago. He passed it. Wednesday at 5pm we went to dinner and on my phone I typed in a gentleman’s name who I wanted to introduce him to.
Within five minutes, he showed up at the restaurant, came over to the table and said hello. I introduced him to the newest member of the real estate world. He said, it’s never really in my repertoire to hire people, especially new ones, but I plan on doing that. And your timing couldn’t be better. He interviewed my son and three other people, and yesterday he offered him a job with an office.
Wow. Nice. And I don’t know how to explain how that happened other than we put ourselves out there, we stay focused on the prize and opportunity shows up when it’s supposed to show up. But whether it’s what just happened to my son or whether it’s creating a company and figuring out the tools to be able to get it where it needs to go to be successful, you and I are here to be able to help encourage people to take the leap. And one more thing, people have such limited mindsets about taking the leap to get where they want to go.
They don’t realize that you could do more than one thing at a time. Right. So my perfect example is if you’re a consultant, you could continue to be a consultant and own a franchise or two, or you could do it many other ways. But the point is some people are just so limited in what they believe, it keeps them from doing anything.
Well, you’re doing this and that already. Give yourself a little credit, whoever you are listening because these self limiting beliefs are, well, they’re self limiting. And as Chad and I both know, when you ask the universe for something big, don’t you dare say no, don’t you dare say I’m not ready. But big ask big asks are super fun because they start to help you to plot your, if you really want it, you, your brain is going to start to plot steps to get it right. Subconscious mind conspires to make it happen.
But if you confuse the subconscious mind, it does nothing. And just because you have an abundant big awesome thought doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen. At some point it has to be realistic. But the to dos that show up in your life show up and will get you there. And as an example, I use a lot of LinkedIn to meet people, to offer them coffees or interaction and more often than not it goes unnoticed.
But for those people who take me up on it, we are able to develop a deeper relationship than they had ever imagined. Because I’m all about helping them connect the dots to get where they want to go. And in many cases they didn’t even know where they wanted to go. I was the one that helped pull it out of them.
Do you ask people to reach out to you directly when you’re doing your LinkedIn? Because I’m trying to craft the right message right now for, for people. I’m reaching out to people get, they get it in their inbox and they go, oh, this is scary, I’m not ready. How do you frame it so that you get them to text you or Call you. So I have 50 people that I’m messaging currently and what I do is I keep it away from what I do for a living.
And I do, I try to make it so that it’s all about how I can help them and be of service to them because either they want someone to be of service and to be in their life knowing that I’m a financial advisor and a life advisor, or they don’t. But what I find is if you’re at a party with 10, in my case 10 professionals, I can engage all 10 and all 10 of them want to have an ongoing relationship with me. Yeah. The key is with LinkedIn is that you have to start with relationship based, not selling based. And it has to be about what you could do to help them and offer them a simple interaction, whether it’s a coffee or a zoom or some type of interaction that’s not threatening even then because everyone is so scammed and so kevs their guard up the same that they always did, but maybe more today.
So instead of 1 in 10, it’s 1 in 20 or 1 in 30. And I think less of a message is more because what I find is 1 out of 10 respond with a thank you. Now I have to go back to them and say I very much appreciate the thank you, but I just want to remind you that I’m Open for a 10 or 15 minute Zoom or a coffee because I want to get to know you better because I think you might have something to offer me or the people that I know because I am one of my superpowers, which is a word that I decided to take after you is being a connector for other people’s benefit.
I’m 25 years in a successful business doing really well emotionally and financially and business wise. And I think the clients are too. My goal is to now help as many other people to reach their goals and get what they want. And I put that into the LinkedIn messaging as simple as I can without, without worrying about an outcome. That’s the big benefit for you and me both.
I think we headed about the same time where could look around and say, I’m doing this work because it’s fun. I don’t need to work for the money. There’s no ego in it anymore. This is, you know, my three words, Joy, fun and yes. And if it’s not, then it’s no.
It makes it really easy to reach out to people and help them. One of the funniest things that happened recently. Chad, you’ll. If I think about this, is this one guy reached out to me, and I called him back within a couple of minutes, and he said, is this the real Meg Schmitz? Like, is this you?
Not an assistant? I’ve been watching your podcast. I’m. I’m binging your podcast. I can’t believe you reached out.
Like, it’s me real. Yeah. How can I help? So it’s 100% exactly what you just said. And I have a lot of people that feel the same way, and I have a lot of people that won’t talk to me because what.
You’re the real Chad. Co you have time to talk to me. But what’s even more crazy is I’m at the health club the other day, and I walk up to a gentleman, and I say, hi, my name is Chad. It’s just there’s only three or four people here every day, and you’re one of them. And he goes, my name is David.
And he goes, Chad, I know you well. I’m thinking to myself, well, why don’t you say hi? He goes, you grew up two blocks from me off of Ridge Road in Holland park, and I know your sister really well, and I’m like, well, this is great. So it’s very nice to meet you. But now when we’re in the room, we could talk to each other, maybe develop a relationship.
If golf. I don’t know where it goes, but the idea is, I’m done. I’m walking up to people. Hi. I’m in your space.
I see you. I want to know you and the small world that we live in. A lot of people know us, but they don’t take the time to say hi because they. For whatever reason, they don’t. They don’t do it right.
Yeah. Yeah. It’s like when you’re in an advisor meeting and there’s 20 people in the room, but there’s only one or two people that seem to have the nerve to ask questions and share. Yeah, people are more guarded, for sure, More guarded than they used to be. But what.
What they don’t know yet is they don’t know you and they don’t know me. And the. The fact that it’s all about them and helping them get to. Like, my mother used to hold up her. Her palms and say, from lily pad to lily pad, from life to death.
The scariest transition anyone is going to make is. Is dying. So I hold up my palms from. From lily pad to lily pad. Let.
Let me help you stick the landing. I want you to get right here and not have to worry about the bass or whatever that’s underneath the water. It’s going to take you down. And so then it’s all about listening and understanding. And if you’re a professional, you have the ability to also connect somebody else.
So hold on a second. Look at this. So Larry was in my office yesterday. This is an incredible book by Larry Kaufman. It’s backwards.
I wrote the forward to it. And so we reconnected yesterday. And so today I made an introduction where a gentleman works with a marketing firm in Vegas. And I said, you need to reach out to Larry on LinkedIn and just let him know that you’re a friend of mine. We’ve been working together.
But it’s not that you’re going to reach out to Larry. You’re going to reach out to Larry. You’re going to let him know you’re reading his book. And you’re going to let Larry know that as an executive in the business world, you might have people that he wants to meet. And you’re happy to make those introductions.
Now, Larry’s taking another 15 minutes because you’re about the giving, not just taking, and you’re about helping somebody else and not just worrying about helping you. And you will watch that Larry will make the time within minutes to connect Zoom and. And they’ll go back and forth with the connections that can help each other versus it’s just about me.
Yeah, well, and this is. How is Larry, by the way?
Incredible. Good. I. I know he had some time there where he had some medical things going on, and then I was seeing his LinkedIn posts and he’s another one who’s sort of a force of nature. But he’s incredible. Very, very giving of his mind and his, his talents.
So good for him. Looking him up. It’s Larry Kaufman. He’s with J and Wells. He’s an incredible connector.
Try to follow him. He’s. He’s one of a kind. Big fan. Big fan.
Me too. All right, so what else do you want to talk about of manifesting and energy? Let’s go back to the initial question of if you had a really big ask and you were guaranteed a yes, what would you do? And so anyone that’s watching this, one of the 10 people that we get to watch, if you have a really big ask and you want the answer to be yes, I think it starts with reaching out to you or me, connecting to us and asking us for a virtual coffee or Zoom and seeing how we can work together to help them reach their goal and accomplish their big ask. And we don’t care what it is.
Oh, I have one for you. And we can wrap up in a couple minutes. But so we’re in Florida, we’re vacationing. So there’s a group of people that don’t take phone calls or respond when you’re on vacation. And there’s a group of people that do I happen to be someone that does.
Right. I’m seven days a week, and if someone needs me, my phone’s ringing, I’m going to pick up. Right. And my wife comes to me and says, we got a little bit of an issue. We have a friend of mine whose daughter needs a private plane home with a nurse because she’s going through something that she was diagnosed with that’s bad.
And do we know someone? And by the way, they’ve already talked to five charter plane companies and they’ve all said no because it was high risk.
Within 30 minutes, I made a connection. The person picked up the phone, made a phone call and got a yes.
Now, that was one of the more challenging things that you would ever think existed. But we got a yes within 30 minutes with a nurse, private plane leaving when they needed it to leave, and a price that was affordable. Wow. And so put yourself out there to again, say, if I was guaranteed a yes, what would it look like and how do I get there? I think it starts with you or myself or Larry or some other great connectors that want to take the time to be able to help you do it.
Yeah. Not pie in the sky. And it’s not unimaginable. It’s very doable if you take the time to take the time. It’s a really good point too, because there’s need versus want.
If you knew that you could ask for a million dollars and get it. Okay, well, that’s easy. Everybody’s going to ask for a million dollars. But that example that you just hit, how many people have something going on that we don’t know what it is, but if they could solve the thing, maybe it’s a marital relationship or maybe it’s a kid or parental issues. If they can, if they could solve the distraction, then they can put their energy towards what they really want and really start to go big without being distracted.
So I have about 100 plus clients. I had five really negative, upset, depressed, miserable clients. And they all left naturally. And so all I’m left with is pure beauty client, beautiful relationships. And one of them was a very Large dollar value client who left and I celebrated.
Yeah. And today, a couple weeks later, I can’t tell you how freeing it is to not have to worry about phone calls seven times a day with that negative voice on the other end telling me how their life is and never really caring about mine or what I’m doing. And today I just have. I have figured out how to move along, get rid of the negative so we get a more positive. And you don’t do it alone.
You do it with a team of people that want to take the time to help you get there. Yeah. And what you’re talking about is the power of no. The power of saying no. No is a.
Is a complete sentence. Yeah. People don’t need to, But what it does is it protects your, your headspace. It protects your time, and it opens up then. Yeah.
To, to eliminate people like that. I think you don’t. We, we don’t recognize how much negative energy that draws out of us that then sometimes gets overlaid onto other people. Because now you’re in a bad mood. Now you just had a bad call.
Now they want you to do something that you don’t professionally agree with, like moving money around or whatever it might be. And it is freeing to get your, your time back. Very freeing. It’s a wonderful thing. So, Matt, let’s do this.
Let’s, let’s wrap up. You could find me at Chadofinancial.com is an email Chadcofinancial.com you can call me at 847-282-3170. You could do whatever you want. I’m all over social media and I’m very easy to find them in Northbrook. But let’s reconvene maybe down the road and add another 10 or 15 minute interaction and see where it goes and see who we could help and be there for.
Yeah. And so I just pulled this out from my, my desk here. Anybody who’s really looking up Chad, look up his books. He’s got some great. They’re easy to read, inspiring books.
And the number of amazing people you have helped, and one of them being me in the mastermind group, is a real testimony to your ability to parse through what people have in their head, their barriers to progress and really the number of true leaders you’ve helped to develop over the years in the mastermind group. Yay. Well, we used to run them weekly and change people’s lives through the process of coming together and removing roadblocks. Yeah. Yeah.
So what we touched on today was the tip of the iceberg, but I just go to the tip. I don’t worry about what’s underneath the water because we all want to be at the tip. And the way to get there is by being focused and planning what you want. And in the new book or the auctioneer’s apprentice book, patience, faith, focus, and clarity on John Wooden’s pyramid, those are the top four things that if you want to accomplish greatness, those are the four things, the four traits that you need. Yep.
Pffc. Patience, faith, focus, and clarity. Perfect. Thank you so much for sharing a little bit chunk of your afternoon with me today, Chad. I really appreciate it.
